Foreign Experts – From India to Israel
By: Adv. Itzik Laniado, Kan-Tor & Acco Law Firm
Indian employees wishing to work in Israel can obtain a work visa as an “expert” or in other fields such as Industry. To qualify for an expert visa, the primary requirement is a gross salary exceeding double the average salary in Israel, updated annually and currently at approximately USD 6,400.
Experts from India work in various industries, including IT, pharmaceuticals, management, diamonds, communication, software, FinTech, and more.
The process begins with the employer submitting a work permit request to Israel’s Population Authority, including supporting references tailored to the candidate’s professional background. Upon approval, the employee must undergo a Consular procedure at the Israeli Embassy in Delhi or the Consulate in Mumbai. This process is facilitated through a Visa Application Centre (VAC) to streamline the process.
Applicants must submit the required documents to VAC, which reviews the application and forwards it to the Consulate. The Consulate may issue the work visa, deny it, or request an interview for additional information before reaching a decision. If approved, a work visa for 30 days is issued on the applicant’s passport.
Notably, if the employee doesn’t enter Israel within 30 days of visa issuance, the Consular process will have to be restarted. Upon arrival in Israel, a work visa is issued for the full duration of stay.
While the process can be complex, it is transparent, fair, and achievable, particularly with professional assistance. Kan-Tor & Acco law firm has a dedicated team specializing in obtaining expert visas for Indian workers, ensuring a smooth and successful application process.
